主要针对河流相关的科学问题,运用野外考察、水槽实验和理论分析进行研究,既包括泥沙运动方面,即相对小尺度问题的研究,也包括河流地貌方面,即相对大尺度问题的研究。
本人共进行过数百次野外考察,涉及四川盆地及周围、山东沂蒙山区、黄土高原与毛乌素沙漠、华北燕山和太行山山区、赣粤交界处的南岭,以及美国明尼苏达和加拿大海岸山。考察过程中关注不同河流地貌特点,提取科学问题。主持和参与的科研项目如下
