Dr. Li Hua obtained his dual Ph.D. degrees from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Sichuan University, and joined Sichuan University in July 2020. His expertise lies in geotechnical engineering and engineering geology, with a particular focus on rock dynamic mechanics, non-destructive evaluation methods, tunnels and underground construction, and rockslide mechanisms. Dr. Li’s research addresses the fundamental challenges in understanding the behaviour of geomaterials (soils and rocks) and construction materials by designing and conducting highly detailed and controlled experiments. The goal of his research is to understand the behaviour of materials and develop more effective and efficient solutions to problems in geoengineering. Dr. Li’s research utilizes novel mechanical-geophysical-optical methods to observe what is happening inside the materials with the aim of understanding the multi-scale physical processes within them such as crack initiation, crack development, crack network coalescence, contact area evolution, slip, and failure.
Institute of Geoengineering and Geohazards (IGG), where Dr. Li is affiliated with, at Sichuan University is always open to applications from prospective master\'s and doctoral students. Applicants should hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree and equivalent experience in Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geophysics or a related Earth Science or Engineering field. We cordially invite you to join us!
